She swiftly rose through the ranks, starting by playing roles in the theater for children and then singing in front of a large crowd. Swift was just 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers Basketball game. The following year, she began writing songs and picked up the guitar. Swift was inspired to write her own material by country music artists genre such as Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. Swift's parents relocated her to Tennessee at 13 after selling their Pennsylvania farm. This allowed Swift to spend more time courting labels for country music in Nashville.
