Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitarist. She is the youngest woman and the first to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was an Indian young sitar singer. She is the student of Ravi Shankar, and the daughter. She was born London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. She then moved into Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman but she has a very remarkable career in the field of singing and recording. She is often seen performing together with her dad, and has done so for many years. In 1998 she released her first single album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy Nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a important aspect of her life. She's performed at many famous venues around the world. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't only limited to the music industry. In 2002, she wrote an autobiography titled Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a film in 2003. Her role was an Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and we can expect many other things to be expected from this amazing woman. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth split between London in the UK and Delhi. She then moved to California and went to high school there. When she was nine years old, she started studying music with her father making her performing debut on the sitar 4 years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences as she traveled with her father during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, as well as recording with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of in the Asian Arts.
